I did this project during my Bachelor's degree at KEA. We wanted to experiment with typefaces, while looking for inspiration in everyday life. The challenge was: how might we design a typeface based on everyday objects? I was one of the lead graphic designers.
The font Times New Blueprint was inspired by blueprints of old clock mechanisms. It gives new life to old clock mechanism design in a form of modern typography. We have tried to play around and created 2 different versions of the font. One that is more formal, and the other one that is more playful and vibrant, where we have combined the letters with geometric shapes.
Sketches
We mixed the anatomy of letters with the mechanical elements of a clock.
Outcome
Two versions of the final typeface, as well as posters displaying the typography.
